A wellbeing app to empower rangatahi to proactively manage their mental well-being


Headstrong is a free science driven mobile application that is reshaping the landscape of mental health and well-being support for rangatahi (young people).

Through its relatable guides, Headstrong cultivates a safe environment where profound kōreo (conversations) can flourish. It's a powerful tool dedicated to empowering the youth of New Zealand to proactively manage their mental well-being.

Headstrong's collaboration with Edition resulted in cultivating an updated design system to support a new course Physical Activity, an illustration Library, and a new website. These changes have collectively refreshed Headstrong's visual identity and user experience.

Expanding the user experience

We crafted an updated design system to support the new "Physical Activity" course while simultaneously developing an expansive illustration library for Headstrong’s past and new skill sets.

Our goal was to harmonise the course's visual identity with Headstrong's current look and feel, creating a seamless integration into the existing app. This design initiative has greatly expanded the user experience and has created a comprehensive and consistent source of truth.

A new website with a fresh, fun and informative feeling

We set out to design a new marketing website that provided relevant resources to parents/carers while still appealing to the rangatahi (young people) that would be using the Headstrong app. This project propelled the Headstrong brand forward while also cultivating a significantly expanded repository of creative assets.

With a commitment to enhancing Headstrong’s online presence, we wanted to evolve with the brand, giving the new website a fresh, fun and informative feeling while still focussing on a dynamic, user-friendly experience.
